About the Artist

Bill Guffey is an artist working mainly in oils with brushes and palette knives. Now living in his native Kentucky, with detours through Colorado, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Bill strives to bring life to his landscape and urban paintings. He tries to convey the feeling to the viewer that made him stop and paint what was before him.

Bill enjoys painting from life, either en plein air or in the studio, and works from photographs he has taken. Bill's love of painting outdoors from life is what gives him the most pleasure. Fighting off bugs, animals and reptiles, while enduring extreme heat in the summer and frigid temperatures in the winter, add to the character of both the artist and the artwork. The most fun for Guffey is the ability to paint on location and the conversations he has with other artists, curious onlookers and collectors. Bill has an incredible sense of being blessed beyond measure.
