Mission Statement
To record the beauty of Kentucky in oil paint, with my easel, canvas and brushes.
The Purpose
As I have reached "middle age" is it obvious that many of the scenes of my childhood have vanished forever. Every day more of the physical world, things and places of our past, are in danger of being demolished, eroded, bulldozed, or remodeled. My goal with this project is to create at least one painting on location in each county in our beautiful state of Kentucky. The character of the individual county will be preserved and compiled in a book that can be used to boost tourism in all parts of the state.
The Timeline
A tentative timeline will be one year of painting from start to finish. There will then be another six months or so to compile the book and prepare limited giclee prints of each official painting. The project could get started as early as late summer of 2014, depending on the funding.
Funding
I am in the process of contacting each county government requesting a donation, either from the county government itself, or in combination with the local Tourism Commission, Arts Council, etc.
The budget for this project is more expensive than one might think. Time off work, fuel, lodging, canvas, paint, brushes, framing, book and giclee printing are just a few of the items that must be taken into consideration.
After the Painting Ends
After the paintings are complete, professionally photographed, prints made, and books printed, the paintings, or a selection thereof, will be part of a traveling exhibition to various parts of the state. Celebrating the beauty of our state, along with the wonderful folks who live here.
